my need is urgent and its exactly because i dont know anyone around here is why i am moving. i have literally been a prisoner of my apartment for 3 years due to cut backs in public transit in my neighborhood, an electric scooter that's been broken since shortly after i moved in and the inability to get out to meet anyone. I get passed my front door maybe 3 times a month if i am lucky and thats only for a couple hours at a time to do grocery shopping and pay bills. in the first year i lived here i had to be rescued byt the police sheriff fire or transportation department over 30 times. it finally got to a point where i could no go out because it would be guaranteed I would have to get someone to rescue me. there is only 1 wheelchair assessable cab in the entire county and her is often booked solid for days in advance and yet no one will add more cabs. I call a cab at 11':30 am from the store and they say they might be able to pick me up at 6:30 PM. that's not feasible.
I will literally be better off homeless, living out of my van for a few weeks until i can find an assessable place to live. i cant use my can normaly because i cant get my chair in and out and when the chair only has a range of a mile or so i cant get around without it either so i have been stuck in my apartment for years. the only human contact i have had over the last 18 months has been talking to my cor mates over ventrillo in eve or talking to acquaintances i have met over the internet on the phone. unfortunately not one lives withing several hundred miles of me.
when i was renting the storage unit today they asked for family friends or someone to contact in case of an emergency. unfortunately saying hammer from eve-online just does not work. I have no family, No relatives since my mother died in 84 when i was 20. no girlfriend or even someone to call if i needed an emergency contact.
I got my SSDI check today for $616 and bye the time i get moved into the storage unit tomorrow i will be bankrupt for the rest of the month. i am allready down to the last $150 to rent a u-haul trailer with and pay for the loading and unloading after paying 2 people to pack for me today , buying boxes and tape to pack with and renting the storage unit.
I had to reply with this account as the other is closed allready untill i get moved into a new place and get internet access again.

i'm still stuck in my move, 3 weeks after i set out on april 3rd my brand new power wheelchair breaks down and i am unable to find a service provider to repair it because its a heavy duty power chair. special order. after 2 weeks of being unable to find anyone to even look at it i am forced to drive back to madison wisconsin from illinois where i was at the time to get it fixed.
chicago was a bust as no place thats wheelchair acessable is affordable and 99% of the city has a flight of steps to the front door so even if i do find a place to live i cant go visit anyone because thier places are not accessable. instead of being a prisoner of my apartment i am locked out of everyone elses places. so thats a bust.
Davenport Iowawhere my God Daughter lives is allso a bust. the newest bus is over 15 years old and the wheelchair spaces are too small to acomadate my powerchair or scooter. i am forced to ride the chair on the street because of the lack of sidewalks. the only potentialy accessable place that accepts section 8 is in a new complex out in the northern verge of the city bast the end of the northernmost bus. while trying to get there i am forced to run through a patch of mud that had washed down onto the sidewalk where my new powerchair gets stuck. after pulling it out of the mud twice in 10 feet i am forced to call the fire department to get me out. and now my chair is caked with 50+ pounds of mud. this causes extra torque o the moter and causes the gearbox to start breaking teeth of the moters spindle causng the chair to totaly cease up. i spend the next 2 weeks stuck in the homeless shelter unable to even get to where the meals are being served around the city. when the only accessable apartment i could find turns down my application igive up. my ssdi check shows up 3 days earlier but i had lost my wallet with all my ID sometime during the fight with the Mud and i am forced to drive back to wisconsin to get a new debit card. replace my drivers licence and take the powerchair back to the cervice provider i got it from as they are the only ones authorised to work on it. when i drop off the chair they tell me it will take weeks to get the parts to fix it.
I then continue my move to austin texas. the main place i wanted to move to anyways but was conserned about how i would get my belongings here from storage in wisconsin. seems texas does not subsadise my ssdi ssi checks like wisconsin does. none of the states i looked into pays anything to assist beyond the federal minimum. so my income drops from $947 a month to $616. the buses here are much easier to get around in and actualy run 7 days a week. but after nearly 2 months i am still unable to find an accessable 2 bedroom apartment that accepts section 8 and is within my vouchers price limits. after spending a month in the homeless shelter and spending $375 to get my old scooter minimaly running i am still stuck. an sca friend offers to rent me a room which i accept but his place is small with 2 levels and i cant bring my scooter inside. the bedroom is upstairs but the upstairs bathroom has a broken toilet so is unusable. i am fighting with constant dehydration and gout because of the 100+ dayly temps, lack of ability to fix proper meals as there is no seating in the kitchen. as i cant stand for more than a minute at a time or walk more than 30 feet on a good day i cant get in the kitchen long enouph to prepare anything but the quickest of meals.
now my old powerchair breaks down again. this time to a point beyond my ability to juryrig a repair and medicare wont pay for repairs as a have a new powerchair they paid for. after 6 weeks my new chair is finaly fixed but i have no means of retrieving it from wisconsin. my van breaks down on the way from wisconsin and is unsafe to drive. i still cant find an accessable apartment after 2 months of looking and my voucher will expire in another month. and i cant get around to search myself any longer.

i am looking to see if there are any eve players from the austin texas area that know of an accessable apartment or a duplex/ townhouse that is accessable or can easily be made so.
i am allso wondering if there is anyone from the wisconsin or chicago area that can help me get my powerchair onto an amtrak train in chicago down here to austin. the least expencive way for me to retrieve it is for me to travel back to wisconsin on plain train or bus and retrieve the chair and then come back the same way. the other option is for someone to pick up the chair in madison and check it as baggage on the amtrak texas flyer train to austin from central station and then overnight me the claim check. for me to retrieve it myself would cost about $350 in tickets as aposed to $540 to have it shipped to me.
